Meet Louise

Portrait of artist Louise Courey

Hello, I’m Louise.

I’m Louise Courey, a professional artist working from my studio in the Laurentians, Quebec, where the changing seasons and natural world are a constant source of inspiration.

For more than 25 years I have explored acrylic impasto with a palette knife, building texture, movement and depth into each original painting.

I love the process of creating. My greatest hope is that a painting brings happiness every time someone looks at it.

Many Expressions. One Feeling.

From exuberant colour and romantic gardens to serene white-on-white paintings, I never limit myself to one style. What unites my work is joy — in making it and in sharing it.

A Life of Creativity

Before focusing on painting, my creative work also included writing four children’s books in the Magelica’s Voyage series. Storytelling, imagination and a belief in a little magic continue to inspire me and my art.

Created Just for You

I collaborate with private collectors, interior designers and businesses to create paintings that suit their space, taste and vision.

Art that feels personal.

A commissioned painting is more than artwork selected for a wall. It reflects the personality of the people and the surroundings where it will live.

Whether you love lively colour, expressive flowers, a bold abstract or quiet texture, each collaboration is designed to bring lasting joy.

My originals are enjoyed in Canadian and American homes and professional spaces, including BMO offices.

How We Work Together

Each commission begins with a conversation and develops into a truly personal work of art. Whether you’re commissioning a new painting or personalizing an existing original, here’s how we work together.

1. Share Your Ideas

Tell me about your space, the size you have in mind, your favourite colours, and the mood or feeling you want your painting to create. Photographs of your room and examples of artwork you love are always helpful.

2. Explore the Direction

Together we explore the colour palette, style and composition, drawing on your ideas and my previous work. We discuss the direction until we have a shared vision that suits both your personality and your surroundings.

3. Create Your Original

With palette knife and richly layered acrylic impasto, I bring our vision to life. I share the painting’s progress, refine details with you, and aim to create an original that feels especially yours and brings lasting happiness.
